TWO EVENINGS OF NEW WORKS BY LOCAL ARTISTS
16 New Works by Local Artists
Dance
Umbrella will present the ever-eclectic performance experience,
10 MINUTES MAX at
The GWC Cultural Center Theatre, 1165 Angelina St.
Friday and Saturday, August 24 & 25, 2007.
10
MINUTES MAX is a showcase of new dance and performance works by
emerging and established local artists. This year’s event
will include 16 choreographers, 40 performers and several musicians.
Works inspired by love triangles, the Virgina Tech incident, the
inner workings of a woman’s mind, the imagination of a two-year
old, religion, rotating tables, the unedited self, the idea of personality,
and the basics of modern dance will be explored in two nights on
the Carver stage.
Started
in 1989 as Performance Plus, 10 MINUTES MAX continues to serve as
a platform for artists new to Austin as a place to introduce their
work, as well as providing a platform for emerging choreographers
to showcase their first public
presentations and established artists to tryout new ideas. 10 MINUTES
MAX has always been known as a forum where artists can present interdisciplinary
and multi-disciplinary ideas. Where dancers explore theatre, theatre
artists explore movement, and musicians explore both. And like its
title, all pieces are no more than 10 MINUTES!
This
year’s 10 MINUTES MAX will feature performances created by:
Khoi Le, Eve Springer, Vivian L. Mancebo, Melissa Andrews, Elizabeth
De Leon, Paula Higa & Chika Aluka, Dillar, Nicole Johnston,
Second Generation Dance Co., Emily Torgerson, Julia Langenberg,
Brenda Porta, Ashley Card, Amie Elyn, Annie Hudson, Jennifer Weitz,
and Kaysie Seitz Brown.
