As
whole populations are displaced, baby boomers begin to retire
and Austinites struggle with “McMansionism”, artistic
director, Leticia Rodriguez, asks the question, “What makes
a house, a home?” Combining theatre with social activism,
these three multi-dimensional artists weave text, dance, live
music, video and art exhibit to bring into strong focus the qualities
of home life which exist for both home owner and homeless.
Leticia
Rodriguez, director and performer of Home Entertainment/Espectaculo
Casero, made the top ten list for “most original
idea for entertainment all year.”- 2005 Austin Chronicle.
Sharon Marroquin, dancer extraordinaire, graced the Critics’
Table Best Austin Choreographer for 2004. Suzi
Stern, an internationally known jazz singer as well as local favorite,
was cited by the Buffalo Evening Newspaper/Art Voice as
“a rare gem, a gifted artist who simultaneously defines
and reinterprets what jazz is today.”
